Description

This new hotel marries the rich history of the lost Malabar Coast port city of Muziris and Lila’s nostalgic memories of the Kochi of her childhood. So, what if we know precious little about the once great trading port and if Lila happens to be pure fiction? It is all about the story here at the Port Muziris, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Kochi. One is greeted by the traditional wooden porte-cochere and a building that takes inspiration from the grand old Dutch colonial villas of the past.

Inside are 54 comfortable rooms that feature the kind of tasteful furniture you would find at your grandparents’ house in Kerala – beautiful rattan-back couches and sleek, wooden light fixtures with gold accents and patterned tiles on the floor in the bathroom. The theme is pristine white with muted shades of brown and sudden bursts of colour – bright yellow cushions and murals on the walls depicting the lush flora surrounding the property.

Designed to replicate the patio in a traditional Kerala house, the big, open windows and the glass-top roof give you feeling of being outdoors even in the gorgeous Kerala monsoon. The property features a gym and a roof top swimming pool looking on to the large swathes covered with coconut trees. For events and meetings, there is 150 sq.m of space – perfect for corporate events and intimate weddings.
