The Sociology of Urban Resilience.
“Resilience through urban flexibility: The case of Chandni Chowk, Shahjahanabad“, a paper by Chaitanya Kanuri and Jayesh Ganesh, explores how local organization and community governance has influenced the usage of Chandni Chowk in Shahjahanabad over the centuries. Abstract: Urban spaces are representative of the era in which they are conceived and built. With the passing of time and changes in the demand for newer types of goods and resources, many urban public spaces constantly adapt to the shifting paradigm or wither into misuse and dereliction. This paper looks at the tangible and intangible elements that make urban public spaces resilient. The case chosen for this investigation is Chandni Chowk in Shahjahanabad, the medieval capital city of the later Mughal period.
