The research project; "A study of Mumbai and Hyderabad's intermodal transportation hubs and their potential in the future railway-led Urban Development in India" has been published in the journal Transportation Research Procedia (Volume 48, 2020) authored by Mishkat Ahmed, Gandhali Tipnis, Dr Nitin Srivastava and Dr Matsumura Shigehisa. In May 2019, Edifice Consultants, in collaboration with nikken sekkei research institute NSRI Japan had presented the research paper at the 15th World Conference on Transport Research organized by iit bombay. It is primarily a part of the special issue of "Recent Advances and Emerging Issues in Transport Research – An Editorial Note for the Selected Proceedings of World Conference on Transport Research 2019 Mumbai".
The railway-led urban development in India corresponds to the spatial planning around it and has direct impacts on population density, land-use change and economy. The research makes a comparative review of these factors congruous with the transit-oriented urban development in two major metropolitan cities of India; Mumbai and Hyderabad where transportation development has been a significant trigger for growth and innovation.
