“Each of us faces unique issues and problems, where we have to make our own choices and stop looking for solutions from others. We must create our own yardsticks and not fear failure,” says Shaon Sengupta.

Shaon Sengupta is the Director and member of the board at Edifice Consultants. Part of Team Edifice since 2000, she believes that sky's the limit for women with the drive to chase their dreams. Her multi-disciplinary expertise and collaborative approach have guided the growth of Edifice Consultants through the years.

She has been actively involved in the design of Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan – the headquarters for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. “It’s been a great opportunity to work on a project like Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, which is a net-positive energy building situated in the heart of Delhi. The key was to optimise energy consumption at the core of the design while marrying in the elements of functionality, aesthetics and iconicity,” says Shaon.

A cutting-edge campus, the building sets a precedent for low-impact large-scale development in the country. It combines energy-saving design strategies with on-site renewable energy generation to create a net-positive solution – where the amount of energy consumed by the building is offset by the energy produced on site.
