“It is always challenging to maintain a daily work-life balance. Still, I make an effort to manage my time well and complete work during the weekdays so that I can give my family quality time on the weekends”, says Pallavi Jitkar Jadhav, Project Head at Edifice Consultants.

Pallavi Jitkar is the Project Head of Hospitality at Edifice Consultants. Over a decade-long journey at our studio, she has lent her expertise on various projects for hospitality and luxury residential developments. She believes design should enhance the user experience by harnessing natural light and ventilation; and maintaining a seamless connection between outdoor and indoor spaces.

When not engaged with work, she is an arts and crafts enthusiast and enjoys spending her free time making artefacts.

Pallavi was part of the design team that worked on the Taj Rishikesh Resort and Spa, a premium hospitality project in Uttarakhand. "It was a great experience working on the Taj resort. The project translates vernacular techniques and local Himalayan architecture into a contemporary aesthetic. Our entire team studied and worked on the traditional building techniques and the local materials available to achieve the desired look and feel. Vernacular Himalayan construction techniques to build stone walls, slate roofs, wooden overhangs were then further reinterpreted, developed and detailed out with modern materials while maintaining their contextual relevance", she observes.

Our client's vision for this project was to create an experience that respects the surroundings while reinforcing the Taj commitment to superior design and artistry. In collaboration with YH2 Canada, Edifice Consultants translated this vision into reality with a deep understanding of the region's building practices and environment.
